Our development
NANKO ENERGY was founded in November 1999, and is a pioneering Greek Company in Green Energy.
It was established as a subsidiary of the company DIEKAT S.A. and its original name was DIEKAT ENERGIA S.A. In 2006 the company changed its shareholder structure and was renamed as NANKO ENERGY S.A., continuing its upward trend. Today, it is an important investor in Renewable Energy in Greece and continues to grow dynamically.

In 1999 DIEKAT ENERGY S.A. was founded as a subsidiary of DIEKAT S.A. At that time the parent company DIEKAT S.A., was constructing the third private Small Hydroelectric Power Plant (SHPP) in Greece, Lampeia SHPP, with a rated power of 1.3 MW in the Regional Unit of Ilia. At the same time, DIEKAT ENERGY S.A. collaborated with PPC RENEWABLES S.A. (PPCR) for the joint licensing, construction and operation of Small Hydroelectric Power Plants.

In 2003, the construction of its first Small Hydroelectric Power Plant (SHPP) began, namely Katarraktis SHPP, with a rated power of 2.4 MW in the Regional Unit of Arta. Katarraktis SHPP has been in operation since 2005.

In 2004, the construction of the Agoriani SHPP started, with rated power of 1.9 MW in the Regional Unit of Fokida, which has been in operation since 2006.

In 2005, DIEKAT ENERGY S.A. in collaboration with PPC RENEWABLES S.A., through the subsidiary GITANI S.A., licensed and manufactured Gitani SHPP, with a rated power of 4.2 MW in the Regional Unit of Thesprotia. Gitani SHPP has been in operation since 2006.

In 2006 DIEKAT ENERGY S.A. was acquired in its entirety and was renamed NANKO ENERGY S.A.
In the same year, the construction of two more projects began:
a) Asprogeia SHPP, with a rated power of 1.36 MW in the Regional Unit of Florina, which was completed and put into operation in 2010 and
b) Mousda SHPP, with a rated power of 1.25 MW in the Regional Unit of Drama, which was completed and put into operation in 2009.

In 2007, the company began the construction of Kriopigi SHPP with a rated power of 250 KW, in the Regional Unit of Arta, which has been in operation since 2009.

In 2008, NANKO ENERGY S.A. submitted a request for a production license for Manikia SHPP, with a rated power of 1.33MW in the Regional Unit of Evia. The production license for this project was issued by the Regulatory Authority for Energy (RAE) in 2021.

In 2010 the company proceeds to the licensing of a number of new Small Hydroelectric Power Plants.
NANKO has now received production permits from RAE for:
- Giannitsi SHPP, with a rated power of 1.35 MW in the Regional Unit of Arta
- Sminthis SHPP, with a rated power of 1.28 MW in the Regional Unit of Xanthi
- Desi SHPP, with a rated power of 1.57 MW in the Regional Unit of Trikala

In 2017 the company submitted a request for a production permit regarding Pefkodasos W/P, with a rated power of 10 MW, which was received in 2018.

In 2020 the company submitted a request for a production permit regarding Nissis SHPP, with a rated power of 1.3 MW in the Regional Unit of Etoloakarnania, which was received in 2021.

In 2021 the company proceeds to the licensing of several new Small Hydroelectric Power Plants. Received production permits from RAE for:
- Theisoa SHPP, with a rated power of 5,00 MW in the Regional Unit of Arkadia
- Meristis SHPP, with a rated power of 2,78 MW in the Regional Unit of Fthiotida

NANKO ENERGY S.A. forms a joint venture with TEAS S.A. creating NATEGIA S.A. for the construction of the Giannitsi SHPP, with a rated power of 1.35 MW in the Regional Unit of Arta. The project is expected to be completed and put into operation within 2023.
Meanwhile, NANKO continues the licensing of new SHPP and receives production permits from RAE for:
- Neraidias SHPP, with a rated power of 0.89 MW in the Regional Unit of Evritania
- Kifisos SHPP, with a rated power of 0.98 MW in the Regional Unit of Fthiotida
- Poimeniko SHPP, with a rated power of 1.1 MW in the Regional Unit of Kastoria
- Kypseli SHPP, with a rated power of 0.7 MW in the Regional Unit of Arta
- Sklithro SHPP, with a rated power of 0.92 MW in the Regional Unit of Florina

NANKO ENERGY SA forms a joint venture with Messaritis Holdings S.M.S.A. creating the companies MENA PLATANOUSSA PLC and MENA KYPSELI PLC, for the licensing and construction of the following projects:
- Platanoussa SHPP, with a rated power of 0.68 MW in the Regional Unit of Ioannina
- Kypseli SHPP, with a rated power of 1.18 MW in the Regional Unit of Arta
